ABOUT PETER GAMBRILL
I am a Chartered Environmentalist and Full Member of ISEP, currently holding a position within Jacobs as a Senior Associate Director within the Water and Environment group leading the London and Peterborough Environmental Assessment team. I recently had a near seven year secondment to South East Water Ltd. as an Environmental Performance Delivery Lead located within the offices in Snodland and my main focus is the water industry. I have been with Jacobs since October 2005 and prior to that I was employed by Black & Veatch. I have over 20 years’ experience as an environmental consultant, technical lead and project manager on a wide variety of projects and for different sectors. I have experience and knowledge working on projects of differing sizes and complexity, managing and coordinating multidiscipline teams for highway, rail sectors, regulators, pharmaceuticals, government, private clients and predominantly water utilities. I have regularly and seamlessly worked in integrated teams within client organisations and within joint ventures; collocated with other consultants and contractors. I have a varied background, starting his career as a geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineer and moving on to more holistic environmental management and impact assessment, delivery and project management. I have developed a breadth of experience and knowledge including; EIA (including DCO), SEA, permitted development and planning requirements; compliance auditing and environmental management systems; waste management; environmental permitting and regulation; protected species mitigation; environmental, archaeological and heritage designations, INNS, contaminated land assessment and remediation; stakeholder and contractor liaison and construction supervision. This has included liaising with clients to identify and set out appropriate targets and KPIs for measuring environmental, sustainability and resilience performance for projects, contractors and the wider business; as well as ensuring adherence to regulatory and legislative commitments such as licences, permits and consents. I have developed robust contractor compliance and performance measurement processes; including an industry first environmental incident frequency rate (E-IFR). This has included undertaking site inspections and audits of contractors assessing performance against derived targets and KPIs. I have been the environmental lead on several incident investigations producing documentation and reports suitable for use by solicitors and regulators.
