About Peter Ferguson
I completed my MS and PhD in mechanical engineering with a focus on Design, Robotics, and Manufacturing from UCLA. I am an alumna of the UCLA Bionics Lab, where I led the development of robotic hand exoskeletons for rehabilitation and assisted in research on automated robotic surgery. My undergraduate education was at Loyola Marymount University, where I graduated from the Honors Program with a bachelor\'s degree in electrical engineering. My thesis work at UCLA was focused on the design, development, and application of the Opposable Thumb Hand Exoskeleton for Rehabilitation (OTHER Hand). Additionally, I co-led and assisted research projects in the automation of robotic suturing, cataract surgery, and tissue manipulation. My work resulted in 14 publications in international conferences, journals, and books. Further, along with my advisor Professor Jacob Rosen, I was the editor and primary contact point for the book \"Wearable Robotics: Systems and Applications\".My prior work experience includes positions as a lecturer in electrical engineering at Loyola Marymount University, a teaching fellow in engineering and mechanical engineering at UCLA, a researcher at a private plasma physics lab, an engineer at Southern California Edison, a researcher at a neuroscience research lab connected with the University of Maryland, and various K-12 teaching and tutoring positions.
