ABOUT PETER EARL
I began my career with pumps and pumping systems immediately after leaving school, starting as an apprentice. By the age of 21, I had earned a BTEC National Certificate qualification, and at 22, I became the Chief Test Engineer at a major pump manufacturing company. In 2005, I transitioned to a service engineer role, working on a wide variety of pressurisation and water boosting equipment throughout the UK.After 16 years in the field, I transitioned to an office-based technical role as a Technical Manager. In this position, I provided technical assistance to customers and colleagues, managed and updated CAD drawings, created operation and maintenance manuals, and developed new product lines for a pump manufacturer. My responsibilities evolved from planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, commissioning, repairs, warranty work, and installations to providing technical support via calls and emails. I addressed inquiries from customers, assisted colleagues with questions about booster and pressurisation units, and engaged in more complex problem-solving discussions with engineers.Recently, I was promoted to Service Support Manager, a role that combines the hands-on aspects of fieldwork with the convenience of an office environment, eliminating the need to navigate dirty plant rooms.
