As Head of IT at Bayfields Opticians & Audiologists, I lead the IT strategy and operations across 55 practices across the UK and Ireland. My role encompasses full responsibility for the management of the IT estate, overseeing all hardware, software, network infrastructure, and data governance to ensure the efficient and secure operation of our services.Key responsibilities:Strategic Leadership: Directing IT initiatives to support business objectives, ensuring systems align with Bayfields’ vision and growth strategies.IT Estate Management: Managing a diverse portfolio of IT assets, ensuring robust, future-proof solutions across all 55 practices, with a focus on scalability and reliability.Budget Control: Overseeing the IT budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources for both operational needs and long-term investments, while delivering cost-effective solutions.Microsoft Cloud Solutions: Leveraging Microsoft cloud platforms (Azure, Office 365, etc.) to enhance operational efficiency, security, and collaboration across the organization.Team Leadership: Leading a team of IT professionals, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring continuous improvement of internal IT processes.Cybersecurity & Compliance: Ensuring the highest standards of cybersecurity, compliance with industry regulations, and protecting sensitive data across the organization.Data Governance: Overseeing data management and governance policies, ensuring data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant legislation (GDPR, etc.), and establishing best practices for data handling and storage.I am responsible for ensuring that our IT infrastructure supports both day-to-day operations and future expansion, delivering seamless service to our teams and customers while maintaining strict data governance protocols.
