Under the direction and collaboration with FINRA senior management, leading FINRA’s multi-cloud and on-premise based Engineering and Digital Workplace Service (DWS) transformation teams. Manage FINRA’s relationships with its strategic technology and business partners. Manage the delivery of the Consolidated Audit Trail (CAT) data ingestion, storage and query analytic capabilities in the cloud for 1,500 broker dealers, all option and equity stock exchanges, FINRA and the SEC. Directed the successful migration of FINRA’s big data and analytics portfolio and transaction processing system workloads onto the cloud and open source stack. The current aggregate cloud environment of data and an average of 175k compute nodes a day), initially saved FINRA millions of dollars per year in technology spend and transformed the business. As a result of automation and constant innovation (examples include migrating from Hive to Spark, optimizing data partition block sizes, decoupling HBase storage from compute, improving Presto/Athena performance, auto life cycling data, leveraging the AWS EC2 Spot Marketplace, kubernetes, GenAI and miscellaneous new AWS services offerings) FINRA’s unit cloud costs have continued to improve by over 15% per year, as well additional business value has been realized (such as improved analytics & query performance, and more self-serve datasets being on-line). Overseeing FINRA’s DWS transformation to elevate the user experience and productivity.Developed business plan and received Board approval for providing commercial technology big data and analytic services to follow regulators and like-minded organizations managing the migration of all big data systems and data to the cloud and open source technology. Also, providing strategy review and implementation oversight for the offering of new services to both internal and external clients.
