ABOUT PETER BIRCH

I work for XTX as a silicon engineer in Bristol, UK. I was previously at VyperCore as VP of Engineering in Bristol, UK. I support the hardware and software engineering teams as we co-design a hardware accelerator for managed runtimes such as Python and C#, offering up to 5x the performance across multiple workloads. Before this I was a technical lead in the Logical Design team at Graphcore, contributing to the development of systems for brain-scale AI. I led the microarchitecture and design phases of critical IP blocks, interacting with architecture, verification, and physical implementation teams. I was also deeply involved with the development of internal design automation tooling and support numerous aspects of the front-end flow. I was previously a Senior ASIC Design Engineer at Blu Wireless developing custom modem SoCs for 5th generation wireless access. In this role I maintained the entire front-end design and verification flows, and contributed to the development of multiple ASICs. I graduated with a masters degree in Electronic and Information sciences in June 2016 from the University of Cambridge.
