About Pete Smoot

With over 30 years of experience in software engineering and architecture, I am passionate about designing and developing innovative, scalable, and reliable solutions that meet the needs of customers and stakeholders. I have had many areas of focus: networking, storage, backup and recover, and DevOps, where I lead teams to deliver high-quality software products using agile methodologies, microservices, and continuous integration and delivery. My most recent role was Software Architect - DevOps at Dell Technologies, where my mission was to enable and accelerate product innovation, removing friction from the developer inner loop. I bring broad perspectives and experiences to the team, having worked on various domains, platforms, and technologies throughout my career.In my most recent role, I was the architect, technical lead, and product owner for several DevOps projects. I lead teams developing Python microservices, implemented database resiliency, and capturing metrics to measure and improve the development process. I also lead the team creating a Backstage-based developer portal that provides a unified and user-friendly interface for developers to access and manage various DevOps tools and services. I thrive working with talented and motivated people, and I am always eager to learn new things and share my knowledge and insights with others.
