About Pete Saunders

I have more than twenty years’ experience working in planning, with a focus in neighborhood, community and economic development, and in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. In my previous position with CMAP I coordinated the agency\'s local technical assistance activities, helping to implement the principles of the GO TO 2040 Regional Plan at the local government level. While with the City of Joliet, I managed residential and commercial development review activities for a booming suburban center. In addition, I have led neighborhood revitalization efforts in Joliet’s inner core communities, participated in downtown planning and revitalization efforts, and contributed toward the development of the proposed Joliet Regional Multi-Modal Transportation Center. As an urban planning consultant, I led a wide variety of planning projects, usually focused in community and economic development or neighborhood revitalization, in locations in the Chicago area and throughout the country.Specialties: Community and neighborhood revitalization planning projects.
