Pete Jeffries is an award-winning journalist and public affairs executive with a proven track record of delivering intended results and improving the bottom line in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Jeffries has been recognized as “media savvy and proactive” by the Des Moines Register and owns the unique distinction as the longest-serving Communications Director for a Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. Since October 2022, Pete has led a realigned Integrated Campaigns Field Management Team for AARP, America’s largest membership organization with 38 million people. Pete’s role includes driving team success through nationwide issues advocacy, brand building and voter engagement at the national, state and local levels, particularly in the areas of financial and health security for 50+ Americans. Known for his strategic leadership and organizational management, Pete previously created and led an AARP business development start-up to boost membership and revenue from 20••••22. Focused on creating innovative programs and partnerships, AARP’s Veterans and Military Families (VMF) Initiative delivered a suite of value-added products and services on caregiving, fighting fraud, and securing employment unmatched in the non-profit Veterans marketspace. Prior to this customer-experience project, Pete led AARP’s Congressional Relations and Political Affairs Department, while commuting weekly from his home near Des Moines, Iowa, to Washington, DC.
