I\'m living at the intersection of how Conversational Data and Consumer Trust meet the terrific and complex opportunity with AI. After operating the Strike Up Labs venture studio since 2024 (as in \"strike up a conversation\"), the opportunity surfaced to lead the growth of an ecosystem business around a breakthrough new IETF standard called VCON. I\'m in my new happy place - leading Vconic Inc- paired with Jabber/XMPP inventor and Jabber Inc co-founder, Jeremie Miller, and the originator and driver of VCON, Thomas Howe. The duo is iconic indeed!In mid-2024 I exited after four years as one of the Operating GM\'s in EverCommerce, a scaled PE-led SMB SaaS and Payments business (600K customers,$600M ARR). It was a great learning experience in scaling up, rebuilding, and driving PLG transformations across a group of businesses in the Home Services industry. I\'ve spend a couple of decades as a serial product-centered entrepreneur in mobile, SMB SaaS, and local market ecosystems. Returning to these roots feels just right. Over my career, I\'ve led the formation and concept-through-mid-stage development of MapQuest, Jabber, Local Matters, and Closely. Early career corporate management experience was with Bell Canada new product ventures. I\'ve lived exits to AOL, Cisco, and Gannett, and experienced the full cycle of IPO transition at EVCM. Most were good-to-great, some were learning scars. None were boring. All that aside, my kids would say that my real claim to fame is the ideation that put the fruit inside spoon-size shredded wheat :) I have led SME Advisory at Bauer Media Group, Venture Advisor and investor in the X Genesis start-up studio. I was EY Entrepreneur of the Year for Rocky Mountain Region \"back in the day\".
