About Perry Charlton

I began my career in human resources in the U.S. Air Force straight out of high school, and for the past 30 years I have worked across many areas of people work including recruiting and talent acquisition, HR business partnership, employee relations, workforce planning, workplace policy and employment law, contingent workforce strategy, and organizational programs that support leadership teams and workforce operations.I approach people work as a systems thinker. Much of my career has focused on helping organizations bring structure to complex people challenges by building processes, coordinating programs, and supporting leadership teams in translating priorities into effective workforce practices. I am most motivated by work that helps organizations operate clearly and fairly so people can contribute effectively.I am currently completing doctoral research in psychology examining HR practitioners’ knowledge, perceived competence, and readiness to support transgender and gender expansive employees following workplace inclusion training. The research focuses on how organizations can better prepare HR professionals to support TGX employees and strengthen inclusive workplace environments.Outside of my professional work, I am active in nonprofit governance, professional associations, and civic organizing, where I contribute to leadership development, professional programming, and community engagement.
