ABOUT SASCHA PERKOWSKI
I’m a VP Engineering / CTO-level leader with more than +23 years of experience building, transforming, and stabilizing engineering organizations across SaaS, platform, and regulated environments. Most of my work sits where engineering complexity becomes a business risk - post-M&A integrations, legacy-to-SaaS transformations, scaling organizations under delivery pressure, or situations where ownership, architecture, and accountability have drifted over time. I’m typically brought in when things need to work reliably, not just look good on slides. While my recent roles are primarily strategic and organizational, I come from a deep engineering background. I value system understanding, pragmatic decision-making, and clear constraints. That allows me to engage credibly across executive, product, and engineering levels - without micromanaging teams or outsourcing responsibility to process. My leadership approach is rooted in servant leadership and outcome-driven engineering. In practice, that means creating clarity around goals, trade-offs, and ownership, enabling teams to make strong local decisions, and making bets explicit rather than implicit. I strongly believe that sustainable software organizations are grown over time—they are not “installed” through one-off transformations or framework changes.A few principles have consistently guided my work- Work with the organization you have, not the one you wish for - momentum matters- Go deep early in complex systems to enable better strategic decisions later- Design for cross-team execution; most meaningful work cuts across boundaries- Be explicit about trade-offs and decisive where it actually matters.I’m motivated by roles where engineering is treated as a core strategic lever of the business - whether in growth, transformation, or integration scenarios - and where leadership is expected to balance execution, people, and long-term sustainability.
