Pepper Hatch has over 30 years of healthcare development and management experience ranging from hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, physician practices, to managed care organizations, in both the public and private sector. Prior to retiring in December, 2018, his work at VUMC principally involved leading outreach, development, and joint venture opportunities; conducting analysis of the opportunities in terms of positive or negative business impact on VUMC; and leading execution. He was also point on VUMC Affiliations inside and outside Tennessee. Delivered consulting services and development of new business for PivotHealth, a full service physician practice management company, recently acquired by The Advisory Board. Developed and implemented a dedicated primary care delivery system building on the advanced medical home concept for HealthSpring, a publicly traded Medicare HMO. Led the development of multiple de novo surgery centers and acquisitions of existing surgery centers for Surgis, a private surgery center company, acquired by USPI. Served in development, operations, and corporate services roles with PhyCor, a publicly traded physician practice management company.
