About Penelope Keane

I discovered at an early age that using your voice can move people, make a statement, and change minds. Early in my education I participated with a community choir in a performance called Silent Voices. We addressed relevant issues through song and spoken word, using our voices to advocate for those that have historically been denied a platform. The show was a plea for compassion: for the neglected, the overpowered, and the abandoned. I have applied the inspiration and power from that experience to every facet of my life, especially my experiences with public service. From canvassing for the Vermont Public Interest Research Group to mediating complaints between consumers and businesses with the Consumer Assistance Program, I have devoted myself to uplifting the public and spreading awareness. I am enthusiastic about community enrichment and understand the complexities of mobilizing individuals, how to navigate regulatory environments, and the grace one must have when speaking with constituents. My skill set includes leadership, teamwork, social marketing, active listening, environmental advocation, oral communication, and problem solving.
