ABOUT PEJ ROHANI
Pej Rohani is Dean for Academic Affairs in the Odum School of Ecology at the University of Georgia. He is also Deputy Director of the Center for Influenza Disease & Emergence Research, part of NIH\'s network of Centers of Excellence in Influenza Emergence Research & Response (CEIRR). He received his undergraduate degree (Mathematics) from the University of Manchester, UK, and doctoral degree (Ecology) from the Imperial College, University of London, UK. After a NERC and a Royal Society University Research Fellowship at the University of Cambridge Rohani joined the faculty at the University of Georgia in 2001. After 8 years at UGA, Rohani moved to the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Michigan, where he received the Pearl L. Kendrick Collegiate Professorship for his contributions to research, education, and outreach at UM.Rohani returned to UGA in 2015, where he received an Athletics Association Professorship in 2019 and a Regents\' professorship in 2020. His research is focused on multidisciplinary approaches to understanding the ecology and evolution of infectious diseases, including influenza, pertussis and measles. Rohani has published 170 papers, including publications in Science, Nature, Nature Reviews Microbiology, PNAS, Science Translational Medicine and PLoS Biology. He has co-authored a book on Modeling Infectious Diseases (Princeton University Press) and co-edited a volume on Pertussis: Epidemiology, Immunology & Evolution (Oxford University Press). He has mentored 28 postdoctoral research associates and 10 graduate students.
