ABOUT MONICA CHAO
I\'m Monica Chao, a Master\'s student in Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University with a B.S. in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior from UC Davis. My academic journey is driven by a deep curiosity about how we can use science, technology, and engineering to improve human health, especially through interdisciplinary research and innovation. Over the years, I\'ve built a diverse portfolio of research experiences: from CRISPR gene editing and zebrafish embryo modeling to in vivo rodent studies targeting Myasthenia Gravis. I\'ve also co-developed digital health tools, including an iOS app powered by AI for managing diabetes via CGM data. Most recently, I\'ve been working on wearable blood pressure technology using machine learning, bridging engineering with clinical application. In every role, I bring strong lab skills, computational fluency (Python, R, MATLAB), and a collaborative spirit. I\'m passionate about applying cutting-edge science to real-world challenges—whether in the lab, clinic, or startup space. Open to opportunities in research, biotech, digital health, and beyond.
