ABOUT PEGGY ASSINCK

With a background spanning the University of Cambridge, the International Paralympic Committee, and health-tech innovation, I am a scientist and strategic lead driven by high-impact challenges. I am currently open to new opportunities and welcome approaches regarding Academic appointments, R&D Scientist roles, Project Management, or Scientific Communication. My goal is to bridge the gap between complex research, pedagogical excellence, and real-world application.I am a neuroscientist and specialist in oligodendrocyte lineage cells, dedicated to uncovering how aging and injury intersect to influence myelin plasticity. With a distinguished track record in spinal cord injury and MS research, I leverage a deep understanding of myelin biology to identify the cellular barriers to regeneration in the aging central nervous system.My research journey has taken me across world-class institutions and prestigious fellowships. Currently, I am a member of Professor Robin Franklin’s lab at Altos Labs—a unique environment that integrates the rigour of academia with the scale of industry. I originally joined the Franklin Group at the University of Cambridge as a Banting Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate adaptive myelination.Prior to this, I was awarded an MSCA Individual Fellowship at the University of Edinburgh (ffrench-Constant lab), where I specialized in MS-related remyelination. I began my research career at the University of British Columbia (ICORD; International Collaboration on Repair Discoveries), completing my PhD under Dr. Wolfram Tetzlaff.I am passionate about bridging the gap between fundamental neuroscience and long-term therapeutic sustainability for neurological repair.
