NanosTech is a leading technology company that produces nano-catalysts and catalysts based processes for a number of industry sectors. Applications include In-situ heavy oil upgrading (ISU), desulfurization of fuel oil (IUT) and the production of carbon nanofibres for a number of industries (Carbonova) amongst others.Our goal is to take a number of catalyst technology approaches to the level of being widely adopted by a number of industrial sectors. We are turning Calgary into a technological hub for catalyst and nanoparticle technology development.

Pedro Pereira-Almao Co-founder and technical leader at ISUT (EOR-upgrading), NanosTech (hydrogen, renewables, heavy oils techs), Litus (Lithium extraction) and Carbonova (carbon nanofibers from CO2 and NG). With over 20 granted patents and more than 200 scientific publication he is an experienced and creative Professor, Researcher and Inventor with a demonstrated history of working in higher education, in the oil industry and in Technology Development.He has been researching solutions to partial bitumen and heavy oil upgrading technologies since very early in his career and Alberta was a logical location for him to move to.After 18 years in academia as full professor at the University of Calgary (U of C), he and a team of researchers at the U of C have come up with a number of commercially viable solutions, focused on renewables and heavy oil upgrading, hydrogen decarbonization, graphite, direct Li extraction and other exciting technologies.Pereira-Almao is an expert in Catalysts and Adsorbents Design/Manufacturing, Catalytic and Adsorptive Processes Development, chemical/Thermal Processes, Simulations, and Surface Science, Characterization of solids, liquid and gas streams. He has co-invented processes on Methane conversion, Lithium extraction from brines, hydrogen production, CO2 conversion to graphite and carbon nano-fibres, renewables and heavy oils full and partial upgrading and produced several spin-off companies from academia.
