About Paul Bridgers
Experienced research associate with 8+ years in biotech production and R&D, specializing in primary cell culture, assay development, and high-throughput screening. Proficient in PCR, qPCR, flow cytometry, and CRISPR gene editing. Proven success in both independent and team-driven projects across industry settings. Passionate about translational research and developing innovative solutions in cellular biology and drug discovery. As a Staff Research Associate at Xilis as part of the R&D multiple myeloma pipeline, my focus was on assay development for a plate-based drug screening tool for multiple myeloma patients. As part of the assay development team, I helped develop plate-based assays for high-throughput drug screening using 3D cell culture technology to generate immunoreactive organoids. We utilize laboratory automation wherever possible, leading to high reproducibility. Previously, I was at Lonza within the Cell Biology R&D team. I conducted experiments regarding primary cell isolations (i.e, livers, hearts, lungs, skeletal muscle, skin, adipose tissue, peripheral blood, cord blood, and bone marrow), cell culture, and cell-based assays. I assessed cell count and viability, compared media performance, and other relevant cell biology or biochemical assays to provide new and innovative cell products and technologies to the research community. I also have experience developing 2D co-culture models and developing relevant assays/protocols for customers. I assisted in writing technical documents such as lab SOPs, testing reports, and application notes. In addition, I assisted with tech transfers to both production and QC. I also managed the R&D lab and maintained laboratory operations and organization, including inventory and lab equipment. My detail-oriented nature, passion for science, skills in cell culture and biotechnology, ability to learn and adapt quickly, and communication skills make me an excellent addition to any team. Skills:• Primary cell isolations and culture• Lab automation• High-throughput drug screening• Cell line maintenance• Aseptic/sterile technique• ELISA• Flow cytometry• Immunocytochemistry• Microscopy• DNA extraction• Rodent surgery• Genome editing/CRISPR• Primer design• Polymerase chain reaction (PCR)• qPCR• SAP software• Inventory management• Microsoft Office• Laboratory animal management/maintenance• Maintain detailed records• Media/solution preparation• Training of fellow employees• 2D and 3D cell culture• Lab Management
