Individual sports like tennis, badminton, shooting or team sports like hockey, cricket or football require the athletes or sportspersons to perform a specific task under certain conditions. This creates a lot of performance anxiety and sometimes disappointment especially amongst athletes. The modern game with increased expectations, 24/7 media pressure, big money and peer pressure makes it a tough world for these youngsters to perform and succeed. Hence apart from physical training, equal emphasis must be on mental conditioning and training. Mental conditioning is used by athletes to help with self-awareness, improve focus, confidence and deal with distractions. Five mental ‘muscles’ namely motivation, confidence, intensity, focus and mind state are essential for athletes to perform their best. If they can develop these muscles, they give themselves the means to enter competitions totally prepared to perform at their highest level possible. Mental conditioning is the process that provides the methods and techniques to improve performance by developing self-confidence and creating a positive mindset through goal setting, positive self-talk, visualization, imagery and awareness. Nudge Sports with its empanelled sport & performance psychologists and counselling psychologists who have worked across more than 60 types of sports with state / district /national level and international / elite athletes as well as age-level athletes playing competitive sport offers the following: • A structured and individually customized Performance Enhancement Program (PEP) for individual athletes, teams, academies, federations and schools etc. • Mental conditioning as a part of the athletes and teams training regime • A psychometric test based Athletes Sports Aptitude Profiling (ASAP) assessment
