About Pawan Kumar

I am a National Security professional with over two decades of experience across Law Enforcement, Border Management, Protective Security, Tactical Operations, Training, and Institutional Modernisation, spanning both frontline operational roles and strategic capacity-building assignments. My professional journey began in the private sector with EarthLink Internet Services at Vanguard Info-Solutions and later Convergys India Ltd.(Citibank NRI process), where I worked in high-pressure, performance-driven environments involving hardcore sales, client engagement, customer service delivery, and process excellence. This early exposure shaped my understanding of systems, accountability, efficiency, and stakeholder management—skills that continue to inform my leadership approach in public service.Following selection through UPSC CPOs (2006), I transitioned into government service and have since worked across multiple critical security institutions. Currently posted at the Central School of Weapons & Tactics (CSWT), BSF, Indore, I am involved in designing and leading advanced training programmes in weapons, tactics, ballistics, CQB, and operational doctrine. My role includes training personnel from the Border Security Force, Indian Police Service (IPS), and officers from friendly foreign nations, with emphasis on realism, safety, doctrinal clarity, and modern training methodologies.I have served as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) at Delhi Police Headquarters, handling VIP security, police modernisation initiatives, and systems-based inventory modules, and as Assistant Inspector General (AIG) with the Prime Minister’s Special Protection Group (SPG), with exposure to Proximate and Distant Use of Force, crisis management, discreet operations, protocol, and advanced security liaison in highly sensitive protection environments. As an Assistant Commandant and later Deputy Commandant in the Border Security Force, I have commanded and coordinated large teams in challenging operational theatres, including the Indo-Pakistan and Indo-Bangladesh borders, deserts, and volatile internal security situations. I have overseen operations involving over personnel, ensuring coordination, discipline, and seamless execution across complex terrains and threat scenarios.Guided by learning, resilience, and empathy, I strive to keep evolving—professionally and personally—paying it forward by contributing to stronger institutions, safer communities, and shared prosperity.
