The design and manufacture of high-power laser targets in support of the experimental program of the CLF- Translation of the physics requirements provided by experimental teams during the planning process into a microtargetry package that can be fabricated to high tolerances- To liaise in an iterative process with external researchers, production specialists and internal design teams to establish detailed target designs and realistic delivery timescales- Manage the day-to-day delivery of targets by delegating fabrication tasks to the microtarget fabricators- Collaborate with users during their experiment to deal with any changes or issues with target delivery- Carrying out the metrology and the quality control of targets and components ensuring that detailed documentation is kept on the planning process- Liaising with external suppliers and manufactures both within STFC (RAL Space, ITAC) but externally to ensure components of the highest quality are provided- Reporting on production capabilities and delivery statistics both orally and in written reports and papers.(Target Fabrication workshop)- Running and instigating R&D programmes relevant to microtarget production and materials- Introducing novel processes, materials and characterisation procedures- Management of a budget for experimental delivery, purchasing components and materials within agreed levels and contributing to the group’s discussions on budgetary plans for the future- Support the development of the CLF spin out company Scitech Precision by providing expertise and delivery support through agreed contracting routes.
