Pavitra Sriprakash is an architect and urban designer with a focus on Sustainability. She is the Chief Designer and Director at The Global Design Studio of Shilpa Architects which is an acclaimed design house that draws inspiration from cultural values that are distinctly rooted in the sub-continent, fusingvernacular methods with modern design and construction practices. Having practiced urban design and planning in New York and Chicago, Pavitra’s work has been India focused since 2008. She is also the Director of Nirmana Realty Investments that has investments in emerging markets infrastructure and early stage investments in Silicon Valley technology companies.She has designed projects across India, and has also delivered on projects in the United States of America, Norway, Japan, China and Kuwait as part of SGBL Studio, Shilpa’s International Urban Design Studio. She is an expert in sustainability and has completed research in Columbia University on “Sustainable Programmatic Landscapes” and the interface between architecture and landscape design in planning robust urban spaces.She has been invited as an expert speaker by CII, The Indian Green Building Council, The Economic Times and various forums to address groups about her perspectives about Green Buildings and Sustainability.She has a Masters in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University and a Bachelor Degree in Architecture from School of Architecture and Planning, Anna University. She is also an accomplished Bharathyanatyam Dancer.SHILPA Architects’ philosophy focuses on innovative solutions for environmental and socioeconomic sustainability.
