ABOUT PAVITHRA L. SURESH
As a social scientist and feminist scholar with a PhD in Cultural Studies, my research and professional interests focus on creating meaningful, intentional, and intersectional access and inclusion across different types of institutions. I utilize comprehensive qualitative methodologies, including surveying, interviewing, focus groups, and ethnography, in my work. My research focuses on South Asian diasporic communities, mental health, disability, queer orientations, and critical pedagogy. I am currently turning my dissertation research on South Asian American mental health and care networks into a book manuscript. My passion for data-driven storytelling, equity-centered learning, and uplifting historically marginalized communities led me to my role as Director of Assessment & Survey Research with Institutional Research and Assessment at Howard University. In this role, I facilitate institutional surveys and course evaluations and support all student-facing units with their program-level assessments. After hours, I serve as a board member of South Asian Public Health Association (SAPHA) and help coordinate their communications efforts.
