ABOUT PAVAN R. PATEL

Pavan Patel is a Research Analyst in the US Pharma & Smid-cap Biotech group at Bank of America, having joined the firm in May 2021. His responsibilities include generating research ideas, providing stock recommendations, and developing thematic research notes. He translates complex scientific and market topics into accessible research reports, prepares materials for investor calls and conferences, publishes company and industry analyses, and builds financial models. His work also involves engaging with industry key opinion leaders, conducting physician surveys, and participating in client interactions. Prior to Bank of America, he worked as a Research Assistant for the Drug Access and Affordability Initiative at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health from July 2017 to May 2019. In this role, he co-authored a policy memo regarding Maryland\'s anti-price-gouging law, analyzed CMS spending data, and examined the application of the Orphan Drug Act. His research on hospital price transparency was cited in a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services regulation. Concurrently, from September 2016 to May 2019, he worked as a Research Assistant in the Dawson Lab at Johns Hopkins Medicine\'s Institute for Cell Engineering, focusing on Parkinson\'s disease research, which resulted in a publication. He also gained experience through internships at the Baltimore City Health Department and the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging, where he focused on drug pricing. He holds a Master of Health Science in Environmental Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a B.A. in Public Health Studies & Natural Sciences from Johns Hopkins University. During his undergraduate studies, he received the Dean\'s Undergraduate Research Award and served as the elected Class President in the Student Government Association.
