About Phillip Aurbach
I have spent over 40 years practicing law with a focus on commercial litigation relating to real estate, contracts and partnership/corporate disputes including fiduciary duty and corporate dissolution cases. After 17 years as a Nevada Supreme Court Settlement Judge and an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and for Advanced Resolution Management (ARM), my practice has moved toward an increased emphasis on arbitration and mediation. My father was a dealer and a pit boss at the Desert Inn when it opened in the early \'50\'s. He sent for my mom and sister in 1953 and I have lived in Vegas ever since. I was a paper boy and worked at a pizza restaurant while I went to Clark High School. I was not a gifted athlete, so I had to spend more time practicing and working out than others on my team. I earned a scholarship to college for sports which, in addition to a work-study program, paid for my college education. In 1973 I earned a degree in Business Administration with a Finance emphasis. I worked for a year at a bank and decided to go to law school. Nevada didn’t have a law school at that time. The only way i could attend the University of San Diego School of Law was by working and student loans. I graduated in 1977 after serving as the Research Editor of the San Diego Law Review.I have arbitrated and litigated close to 200 civil cases including jury and bench trials. My area of expertise is corporate and partnership dissolution as well as receivership cases. One particularly long contract case was a breach of contract that lasted 22 days where the arbitrator awarded my client over $4M that he had been underpaid. I later became a commercial arbitrator and mediator and have achieved an “AV” rating from other judges and attorneys in Martindale.com.I have lectured for the Nevada State Bar, the Clark County Bar and various national legal education companies. I have published articles on evictions, mortgage and trust deed foreclosures, personal property security interests under the U.C.C, as well as effective use of a trial notebook in tort and contract cases. One of my most notable article titles was “How to Win Trials with Your Computer Without Looking Like a Total Geek.” Honors-Top Lawyers (Commercial Law) in Desert Companion -Named 2019 Best Lawyers® \"Lawyer of the Year\" in the Las Vegas area -Named to The Best Lawyers in America list 20••••20 (Arbitration, Commercial Litigation, Litigation-Real Estate)-Mountain States Super Lawyers, 20••••18
