SKILLS
ABOUT PAUL KEARNEY
Lieutenant Colonel RM, Dentist, Managing DirectorI\'ve been lucky enough have a number of successful careers across Marketing, Technology, International Construction, the Military and of course Dentistry (weird combo I know!) On the surface it all seems very diverse but if you scratch a little deeper, its all people.I\'ve spent the last couple of years balancing a variety of NED roles along with one day a week doing my bit for NHS Dentistry!Prior to that I set up and ran the ITG Technology Division specialising in Big Data and Marketing Technology having come from 3 brilliant years with the US Project Management giant, Bechtel. With Bechtel I got to deliver some very large scale projects around the world, particularly in the Middle East and Central Africa. In Africa I was a national Operations Director managing several chinese mega contractors as part of a $2Bn delivery portfolio but the greatest honour was to work with local engineers and PMs, supporting them to fill roles that had previously been held by expats! Before ITG I was in the Royal Marines, retiring as a Lieutenant-Colonel in 2010. Immediately prior to my promotion I commanded a (110 man) Special Operations Combat Unit. As you would expect I have spent a significant amount of time in Iraq, Afghanistan and other dusty places. Following this I had a Strategic Communications role in the MoD, Whitehall spending a lot of time working with various government agencies (esp UK, USA and France) but the overall lesson was simple - to communicate effectively keep it short, simple and consistent!
