ABOUT PAUL T. GUILLORY

Paul T. Guillory, Ph.D. is an ICEEFT Certified Trainer and Supervisor. He is leading expert on multicultural therapy and couples therapy with African American couples. He is the author of Emotionally Focused Therapy with African American Couples: Love Heals (2021), an essential guide that integrates emotionally focused therapy (EFT) with cultural humility.He is an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at the University of California, Berkeley. He is a certified supervisor and therapist of emotionally focused therapy. He is also a former chairperson of the Northern California Community of Emotionally Focused Therapy.His path as a psychologist was not a direct one. Immediately after college, he worked as a business community organizer in the United States Peace Corps in the West Indies. He returned home and joined the United States Naval Reserves. After the military, he worked in corporate America as a loan manager. Just prior to graduate school, he worked as a fire-fighter for a number of years. During this time, he also actively participated in raising two children with his wife.
