About Paul Fisher

Previously, I was a Principal Engineer at Zapier, leading the architecture of AI Agents, after Zapier acquired Vowel (where I was the CTO and Co-Founder).Vowel, was an AI-powered conferencing platform, which pioneered ground-breaking AI features, such as real-time meeting summarization, action-item detection, and native agentic / search capabilities. Vowel was acquired by Zapier in 2023. Prior to Vowel, I was the CTO at Recombine, a genomics platform and genetic testing company, which was acquired by Cooper Surgical in 2016 for ~$100M. After the acquisition of Recombine, I was the CTO at Phosphorus, a genomics company founded as part of the Recombine acquisition.Prior to Recombine, I was the CTO at Onswipe, a mobile/tablet publishing / adtech platform, which was acquired by Beanstock Media.I was also the CTO at Sonar Media, a pioneer mobile social discovery platform (which was awarded 2nd place at TechCrunch Disrupt in NYC). Sonar was also one the portfolio companies at K2 MediaLabs — where I served as CTO, prior to joining Sonar.I was also Director of Engineering at LimeWire, a peer-to-peer file-sharing platform, where I oversaw seven engineering teams internationally. Prior to LimeWire I managed technology for Wired Digital, a Conde Nast company, where I lead engineering for wired.com and other Wired brands (including webmonkey.com, hotwired.com, and reddit), in San Francisco and New York.Prior to Wired, I was the co-founder and CTO of SmartPants Media, an award-winning digital media company, where I developed / launched dozens of interactive and educational software products, including interactive kiosks for the Smithsonian, and telephony/streaming applications deployed across government agencies throughout the US.I have nearly 30 years of experience building and leading engineering and product teams, with a focus on scaling high-traffic, data-intensive AI / ML platforms. Having founded, scaled, and sold several start-ups, I have developed deep business, product, and technical expertise, as well as experience recruiting, launching and marketing products, and scaling cpu and gpu infrastructure to support fault-tolerant, low latency use-cases (leveraging technologies such as terraform, kubernetes, docker, helm, mlops). I have co-authored three technology books (published by Apress/Springer) and have authored several patents.
