ABOUT PAUL SCOPE

I am a very experienced employment lawyer, focusing on pragmatic and commercial solutions. I am the trusted HR partner to a diverse range of employers, of all types and sizes, in the private, public and third sectors. We are the largest employment law team in the North East and the the top rated team according to independent legal rankings. I am personally a top-rated individual by the legal directories for Employment Law. I advise employers of all types so have a great deal of experience in most sectors - some of my recent experience includes: Manufacturing - I advise a number of large manufacturing companies on their HR strategies, including in the motor, hi-tech and pharma sectors. Sports – I have advised many professional and elite sports clubs, including football, rugby, cricket and elite gymnastics clubs on employment matters, including in respect of players and regulatory/governance/Football Association/Premier league/English Cricket Board/British Gymnastics investigations. Professional services - I often advise solicitors and accountants, both personally and on an individual basis. I am often asked to represent my fellow solicitors in disputes with firms. IT – I advise a number of media and IT providers on all HR aspects Recruitment – I advise a number of agencies on the law regulating employment agencies and businesses and also the rights of agency workers. I have particular experience in this field having previously worked in-house for Reed. I successfully defended one of the first mass claims under the AWR. I also advise hirers (including a number of household names) on their arrangements with recruitment agencies. Education – I have advised schools, colleges, universities and training providers since I have a great deal of experience in assisting education providers to manage short and long-term staffing strategies. Collective obligations - I advise many large employers on TUPE, collective redundancies and defending mass litigation (one case involving employees). I have a great deal of experience of these matters, including Trade Union recognition/, collective agreements, dealing with industrial action and Central Arbitration Committee claims I regularly speak on employment issues.
