While I enjoyed teaching in a K-8 environment, I was ready to take my game to the next level. So I signed on as a long-term substitute World History and Global Civics teacher at Providence Day School, one of Charlotte\'s \"Big Three\" independent schools. It has been an honor to serve alongside some of the most professional and gifted educators that I have ever been acquainted with outside of grad school. At Providence Day I challenge students on history\'s great ideas and have guided freshmen through an innovative business plan project that was later judged \"Shark Tank\" style by business professionals and senior faculty members. In addition to educating and inspiring students in the classroom, I frequently man the public address mic for the Providence Day Chargers, frequent holders of the Wells-Fargo Cup for the best 4A private school athletic program in North Carolina. Last year, I had the honor of announcing three state championship triumphs by different Charger teams. What made this even more rewarding was the fact that I had already gotten to know many of these athletes as students in my own classes.
