The role of the Audience Designer has become increasingly essential within the contemporary film industry. As an Audience Design Consultant & Tutor at TorinoFilmLab’s Feature Lab (20••••21), I work directly with filmmakers and producers to integrate audience strategy into the creative development process.The Audience Design approach goes far beyond traditional film marketing. It places storytelling and narrative thinking at the center of strategic development — using them as driving forces to identify, understand, and build meaningful connections with audiences from the earliest stages of a project.Rather than treating marketing as a final promotional phase, Audience Design embeds community building, social and digital media outreach, and off-line engagement activities into the development process itself. It is an open, collaborative, and experimental methodology that encourages filmmakers to explore new ways of communicating their stories while working on concrete, tailored strategies.Within a structured, process-based format, audience strategies are actively tested and refined in close dialogue with creative teams. This pioneering model strengthens the relationship between artistic vision and audience engagement and prepares projects for meaningful positioning within the market.The process culminates in public presentations of the developed strategies and projects, including publication in the TFL Book of Projects and presentations in front of industry decision-makers during the Torino Film Festival.In today’s fragmented and fast-evolving media landscape, the Audience Designer plays a crucial role — not only promoting films, but shaping how stories find their communities and how communities become part of the storytelling journey itself.

Berlin-based Audience Strategist, Speaker, Mentor, and Consultant, I help filmmakers, producers, and cultural organizations connect their stories with the audiences they are meant to reach. I also curate events like the Industry Training Talks 2025 at Dok.fest München and ran the MOVE! Ideenfest incl. a conference on AI & Filmmaking at MOVE2startup, fostering creativity-driven entrepreneurship.As the founder of GET YOUR CROWD, I help projects from concept to release, guiding audience engagement, community building, and campaign strategy. I am also the author of “DOK & CROWD” (UVK Verlag, Konstanz), a practical guide on the german documentary landscape, introducing audience building and crowdfunding for non-fiction filmmakers.My work is driven by a passion for storytelling, impact-driven campaigns, and building lasting connections between projects and audiences.
