About Paul Mazurkiewicz

A recognized expert at the intersection of computer hardware, material science, chemistry, physics, and sustainability science. My career has been defined by a deep focus on the foundational technologies of high-performance computing (HPC), from designing and ensuring the reliability of servers and workstations at HP to pioneering at-scale thermal and sustainability solutions at Amazon Web Services (AWS).At HP, I drove the design and development of HPC systems, managing strategic collaborations with key accelerator technology partners like Nvidia and AMD and overseeing complex global supply chains. I had the privilege of training large hardware manufacturers in Asia on the exacting standards required for the design and manufacturing high-performance computing.More recently at AWS, I have led the company-wide development and scaled deployment of liquid cooling in our data centers in support of accelerator and core compute platforms. Beyond core engineering, I conceptualized and built a successful sustainability organization from the ground up, driving measurable carbon reduction, advancing the circular economy, and actively shaping public policy with global regulators on behalf of the hyperscale industry. I lead large, multi-disciplinary engineering teams to solve complex challenges in system reliability, performance, manufacturing and cost modeling, continually pushing the boundaries of what\'s possible in compute at scale.
