Senior Software Engineering Manager - Tools & Process, Rdd @Dyson

As the global leader of the Software Tools & Process team within RDD, I am responsible for ensuring that the Software organisation has the necessary development tools and processes to succeed. My team is dedicated to managing the SW ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) and governing build system used for development across each of our delivery trains, including App, Cloud, Embedded, Wearables and Intelligent Machines. With a commitment to excellence, we utilise various methodologies to provide effective support to the Software organisation. Additionally, we collaborate closely with IT to manage the environments in which our tools & services operate, fostering a close working relationship that enhances our ability to deliver high-quality products. Key Achievements: Leading a global team which provides support to software teams based in UK, Poland, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines & China. Introduced a new framework to allow the SW organisation migrate from Waterfall & Agile delivery to SAFe. This required a new structure within our Atlassian toolchain, including; Program Spaces for Confluence, Jira Projects and issue hierarchy for Agile Release Trains (ART) and a new permission group structure. Rapid deployment of a Cloud hosted toolchain to enable collaboration with 3rd party developers working in multiple countries. Managing a budget in excess of £5M. Set up a Service Desk environment to support our development community to raise requests to our team. This included a dedicated Kanban project that our team executes in parallel with our Scrum board for planed work. Provided a level of service and execution to a global development organisation across multiple domains by maximising efficiencies for a small team that set the benchmark for delivery compared to other teams that were 10x in size.
