ABOUT PAUL E. KALB
I am a physician and lawyer with a deep understanding of legal and regulatory risk in the healthcare and life sciences sectors. I am currently a Senior Scholar at the O\'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown Law Center, a Professor of Medicine (adjunct) at Georgetown University School of Medicine, and a Senior Advisor to the Nature Medicine Commission on Quality Health Information for All. I am member of the Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative\'s 2024 cohort.I chair the board of Science to People, a public-benefit incubator building technology products that enable accurate, trustworthy, easy-to-understand science, and serve on the boards of the Analysis Group, a leading international economic consulting firm, and Bearacuda Re, the captive insurer for Children\'s National Hospital. In my legal practice, I defended numerous life sciences companies and leading healthcare providers, both public and private, as well as boards of directors in high-profile government investigations involving complex administrative and clinical issues; served as a government-mandated board compliance expert; and advised private equity investors on regulatory risk and protecting enterprise value. An innovative law firm leader, I served on Sidley’s Executive Committee for 15 years. I led the firm’s strategic planning process and chaired the firm’s Covid-19 Task Force. I am a founder of Sidley’s Global Life Sciences practice, led the firm’s Healthcare Group (and subsequently Healthcare and FDA Group), and coordinated the firm’s healthcare and life sciences transactional efforts.
