After completing my second rotation, I moved into a customer-facing line of business (Retail Bank) in search of frontend-focused development with more direct customer impact. In July of 2021, I joined the JEDI Squad within Capital One’s Fraud Prevention Space - a full-stack team developing Retail’s next-gen Fraud Case Management system, to replace an expensive legacy system licensed from a third party. As a JEDI full-stack developer, I worked across the many parts of our stack, gaining experience with a number of languages and frameworks- A Java Springboot-based Case Management backend, leveraging Camunda & Postgres - A Java Springboot-based Ingestor, leveraging AWS SQS to ingest thousands of daily alerts - A python-based rules-as-a-service engine, used to store detailed alert configuration for 900+ distinct upstream defenses- An Angular-based frontend, used daily by 300+ Fraud Prevention associates. The migration effort onto JEDI took place in staged rollouts over the course of 2022, culminating in March 2023 when the legacy platform was fully decommissioned. Over the course of 2022, JEDI successfully ingested alerts totaling $155B in potentially fraudulent transactions. My impactful contributions to the JEDI platform include an auto-expiry system to ensure a Wire transaction is auto-cleared before hitting SLA if left unreviewed. In the legacy system JEDI replaced, this was a manual process, and this automation saves fraud associates an estimated 180 hours/week of manual effort. After a year and a half with JEDI, I earned a promotion to the Principal Associate level in February of 2023.
