ABOUT PAUL MARTIN

I am a qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) with 20 years’ experience and a track record of generating shareholder value across a diverse range of businesses. Following a seven-year career in the accounting industry with Deloitte I subsequently worked in a variety of industries, in multinational business with turnover up to $500m. With strong technical accounting skills and well-rounded commercial, operational, and general leadership experience, I have been successful in many different environments and cultures. I am currently Group CFO at Blatchford, focussed on driving the future growth of the organisation and building on the momentum gained since the CBPE acquisition of Blatchford in 2018. Over the last decade I have operated at FD / CFO level in several global organisations. I was previously a board member of IDS, an AIM listed plc. During my time at IDS I have led a significant restructuring exercise, then partnered with the new CEO to drive a subsequent business turnaround followed by a successful $150m sale to a trade buyer – increasing enterprise value by 9x over a five year period. My role expanded from being finance focused, to one whereby I was responsible for all operational aspect of the business, including manufacturing, logistics and quality. Prior to IDS, I was based in Singapore as CFO for the largest operating division of a UK listed manufacturing business, where I was involved in all financial, commercial, and operational aspects of the business. With significant experience running large, geographically dispersed finance teams, I am comfortable and experienced working in both Western and Asian business cultures. I have developed a reputation as someone who is a result’s orientated leader. I make strategic decisions quickly and am accountable for the success of those decisions. I have therefore been able to generate rapid, successful change in the organisations I have worked for.
