Experience
Broadstreet Institute- Community Data Project
Feb 2026 — Present
Community Data Intern providing novel analysis, visualization, and humanization of CDC WONDER (Wide-ranging Online Data for Epidemiologic Research) Database.Analyzed county-level mortality trends for ischemic heart disease (ICD-10: I20–I25) using the CDC WONDER Underlying Cause of Death database (2018–2024), examining patterns across Connecticut and New Mexico to identify geographic disparities in cardiovascular outcomes. Strengthened dataset reliability by conducting quality assurance checks on peer-collected data and applying CDC guidance to appropriately manage suppressed, unreliable, and missing mortality values. Translated epidemiologic data into accessible visual insights by creating bar charts and county-level choropleth maps in Google Sheets and Datawrapper, comparing ischemic heart disease mortality trends against state and national benchmarks. Presented data-driven findings and evidence-informed recommendations to public health and nonprofit stakeholders to support targeted community health interventions and policy discussion.
