ABOUT PAUL GERARDO Y.
Through my unique endeavors, I possess a passion for achieving excellence, an audacious engagement in unique challenges, and a proven dedication to serving and empowering the marginalized in our society.I direct my firm foundation in Preventive Medicine, Behavioral Science, Social Epidemiology, Health Economics, and Health Services Research toward a passionate devotion to rectifying health inequality, illiteracy, and outcome disparities through scholarly research, community endeavors, and teaching. I have a proven ability to quantitatively analyze health disparities, propose sustainable community-based solutions, and assess their effect on minority communities’ healthcare access and outcomes.In terms of academic research, I apply decision science analytics and economic modeling for incorporating systems design and implementation science optimization for technological-based health interventions and to guide clinical decision-making in cancer prevention and chronic disease management. Currently, I am a passionate research collaborator on NIH-funded grants.In terms of teaching, I possess experiential breadth and depth in enhancing educational effectiveness through curriculum mapping, flipped classroom teaching, and integrating interactive technology to enhance experiential learning. My teaching pedagogy is predicated upon student acquisition of core competencies garnered through collaborative problem-based learning, competency-focused deliverables, and proficiency-based evaluations.I also am governed by my modus operandi of being an empowering mentor to students, providing motivational encouragement, and treating students as multidimensional beings beyond the scope of their academic performance. I creatively generate innovative, radical, and targeted solutions to address holistic student well-being.It is a blessing to collaborate with colleagues to provide preeminent health science education in a culturally responsive manner, pushing students to become health-focused transformative leaders.
