Paula Boggs fronts the “Seattle-Brewed Soulgrass” Paula Boggs Band, is a voting member of The Recording Academy and owns Boggs Media, LLC. She is also a seasoned executive, board member, speaker, writer and Army Airborne (paratrooper) veteran, who led the global law department of Starbucks Corporation 10 years. In 2009 NASDAQ named her its top general counsel. Before Starbucks she was an executive in the technology industry, a law firm partner, federal prosecutor, U.S. Army Captain and one of America’s first women to receive an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy. Boggs began her active duty military career in the Pentagon and while a military officer worked in the Office of White House Counsel during President Reagan’s second term. Two decades later she was appointed by President Obama to the President’s Committee for the Arts and the Humanities and White House Council for Community Solutions. She served 26 years in the American Bar Association\'s (ABA) House of Delegates and on its Board of Governors. After serving 18 years as a Johns Hopkins University Trustee, Boggs is a Trustee Emerita. She is a veteran of for-profit and non-profit boards, is a 2021 Puget Sound Business Journal Director of the Year Awardee, named one of Savoy Magazine’s 2021 Most Influential Black Directors and serves currently on the boards of Thinkific (Toronto Stock Exchange-listed), Banzai (NASDAQ-listed), The Recording Academy Pacific Northwest Chapter and Newport Festivals Foundation. In 2021 Southwestern University conferred on Boggs an honorary doctorate of laws. She co-chaired public radio KEXP\'s successful capital campaign and served on its board 10 years. She is a Lifetime Board Member of Seattle Symphony and Greater Seattle YMCA. Boggs has held a variety of professional and community leadership roles over the past 30+ years, is internationally recognized as a “citizen-artist” and is a 2018 Seattle Mayor’s Arts Awardee. The band released 4th studio album “Janus” in 2022, released “Paula Boggs Band Live at Sweetwater Music Hall” in 2024, 5th studio album “Sumatra” releases March 2026.
