ABOUT PAULA TATE

As a Digital Product Line Director for Asset Operations in NGET, I lead one of ET’s most strategically important digital portfolios, driving enterprise-wide transformation that modernises the way we manage assets, optimise operations, and prepare the network for a decarbonised future. My remit spans long term product and data strategy, major programme delivery, organisational change leadership, and the creation of digital capabilities that strengthen the reliability, resilience, and sustainability of the UK transmission system.I am widely recognised as an inspirational, people centric senior leader, committed to building empowered, psychologically safe teams where innovation thrives. I lead a diverse organisation of around 150 permanent staff and contractors, creating the conditions for collaboration, clarity and autonomy — essential for delivering transformation at both scale and pace.A core part of my leadership is driving the Maximo enterprise asset management transformation, one of National Grid ET’s largest and most complex digital initiatives. This programme is not only a technical upgrade; it is a fundamental shift in how we plan, manage, maintain, and assure the critical infrastructure that powers the UK. Under my direction, Maximo is delivering significant transformation outcomes — from modernised asset processes and uplifted data integrity, to reduced system fragmentation and a step-change in operational insight and regulatory assurance. My approach is grounded in strategic alignment, disciplined governance, and organisation-wide engagement. I work closely with senior engineering, operations, technology, and transformation leaders to embed product-led thinking, evolve operating models, and ensure our digital capabilities deliver both immediate value and long-term benefit. I am passionate about unlocking the full potential of digital to enable a clean, fair, and affordable energy future.
