I preside over misdemeanor and felony jury trials, including capital murder charges.Many defendants also enter guilty pleas and ask for probation. Unfortunately, a large percentage of probationers do not comply with the terms and conditions of probation, so I also spend time listening to revocation hearings.I hear post conviction hearings where people convicted of crimes accuse their attorney of not effectively representing them. The most difficult of these hearings are when the defendants are on death row and also accuse the District Attorney\'s office of withholding exculpatory evidence.
