ABOUT PAULA ANDREA MORALES

I currently work in the area of plant breeding, which I have based on comprehensive training, starting with an bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, which I studied at the National University of Colombia (Bogotá, Colombia), and continuing with a master\'s degree in Crop Sciences with specialization in plant breeding and seed science, which I finished at the University of Hohenheim (Stuttgart, Germany). I finished my studies with outstanding results, which allowed me to obtain different scholarships and support to successfully complete my studies.My passion has always been directed toward ornamental crops, where I have worked in different roles. Initially I focused on the production of cut flower crops for export, such as chrysanthemums and mini callas, as well as the production of foliage for bouquets such as eucalyptus. Later I involved in introduction of new varieties, where I was in charge of carrying out tests for the evaluation of relevant characteristics regarding to quality and the production process in varieties of different ornamental crops of commercial interest. After completing my master\'s degree, I have had the opportunity to work in the area of breeding, including potted flowers such as carnation and geranium. However, my focus remains on cut flowers, which is why I currently work as a junior cut carnation plant breeder. In each of these roles, I have been characterized by outstanding performance, as well as discipline, responsibility and dedication, with leadership skills, teamwork, punctuality, organization and analysis of situations, proposing alternatives to problems and making appropriate decisions. quickly and efficiently.
