As Director for Children, Young People and Communities, working alongside a highly skilled leadership team to ensure our Big Noise programmes are the best they can be for as many children and young people as possible. Leadership of the Heads of Centre of our six Big Noise centres across the country and support them to ensure ensuring excellence in all aspects of our delivery. I also work to strengthen our approach to inclusion, as well as our involvement in contributing to national and regional strategies and approaches to tackling child poverty and inequality in Scotland. In doing so, I work alongside children, young people and community members from our Big Noise programmes to support their rights, have their voices heard, and ensure the services that they receive both within and outwith the organisation, fully meet their needs.

ABOUT PAUL SULLIVAN
Director of Children, Young People and Communities at Sistema Scotland. We run Big Noise programmes in six communities across Scotland, improving lives and strengthening communities through music. Working alongside our leadership team to help ensure excellence in all aspects of our delivery, with a particular focus on how we involve children, families and communities within our Big Noise programmes. Focused on our approach to inclusion, ensuring the maximum number of children and families can be supported by Big Noise programme, as well as our involvement in contributing to national and regional policy, strategies and approaches to tackling child poverty and inequality in Scotland. Having previously led policy and participation at the Independent Care Review and Centre for Excellence for Children\'s Care and Protection based at the University of Strathclyde, my interests and work often focus on listening to and working with people who have experienced challenges in order to influence policy and create change. Some areas include The Promise, UNCRC, National Care Service, secure care, GIRFEC, tackling poverty and other national policy agendas. I’m also involved as a researcher in the Drawing Together research project, with an interest in the integration of art and academic research, as well as how we create the conditions for integration and welcome for refugees – particularly in my home city of Glasgow. In my spare time, I’m also Chair of a charity called The Sound Lab, which provides free music and arts tuition to communities of young people who are often denied the right to participate in cultural activities. Responsible for the overall leadership of Sound Lab, grant fundraising and programme design. At Sound Lab, I co-created Musicares, the first national music service for care experienced young people in Scotland. I’m also a trustee of Together Scotland, the national alliance of children’s rights organisations.My other career interests have been in change management, service design, funding and fundraising leadership, project management and operational leadership with the Prince’s Trust, Royal Bank of Scotland, Life Changes Trust and others.
