Northern Ireland, GB

We are a leading conservation organisation saving wetlands for wildlife and people across the world. Our vision is that society values, protects and manages wetlands to sustain wildlife, people and the planet. I lead the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) in Northern Ireland and manage the WWT Castle Espie Wetland Centre on Strangford Lough, seasonal home to 85% of the worlds light bellied Brent geese. Our sustainable award winning visitor centre provides a window on Strangford Lough Special Protection Area (SPA), Ramsar site, Marine Nature Reserve (MNR), Area of Special Scientific Interest (ASSI), National Nature Reserve (NNR), Special Area of Conservation (SAC). The site includes restaurant, shop, observation facilities, restored wetland habitats, trails, natural play, sensory garden, boardwalks and interpretation, all of which raise awareness of wetland conservation and the fascinating history of the site.
