ABOUT PAUL STEPHENSON
35 years’ experience in the civil engineering and construction industry in the UK. Prior to commencing with Southbay in 2006, having worked for national civils contractors in the UK gaining experience from rail, roads, structures, water and especially marine civil engineering.I started in the industry as a 16yr old Trainee Engineer with Harbour and General Works Ltd, followed by Cementation Construction, Birse, C Spencer prior to Southbay.Following a very traditional career path I have worked my way up to Managing Director over the years. Initially starting with Southbay as a Project Manager I successfully managed individual sites from £10k to £10m for a number of clients. The break into senior management involves overseeing the companies Health, Safety and Environmental Policy, training, estimating, client management and commercial matters but never taking my eye off the engineering aspects and attention to detail required to be a good Civil Engineer.Since joining the company in 2006, turnover has increased ten fold and continues to grow. Always looking for new ideas, new people and good business.
