About Paul Siegel
I like using science to solve business problems. I have experience in all stages of development for data science / machine learning / AI products: identifying and prioritizing business problems, user research and discovery, scientific research and exploration, engineering prototyping, production engineering, and maintenance / scaling.I began my career as a data scientist at Brandwatch, building products which help PR and marketing analysts extract insights from massive social media. After 5 years I moved into product management, serving as director of product for Brandwatch\'s AI division, consisting of 35 data scientists, engineers, product designers, and UX researchers. Examples of projects that I worked on include- Influence and reach in online social networks- Entity linking / categorization in short form text- Audience classification / categorization- Trend detectionMore recently I got the itch to get back into technical work, so I joined Turing Labs as a senior machine learning engineer. At Turing Labs we build AI products which help formulators maintain and improve consumer packaged goods products. I\'m currently working on using large language models to create causal structures that can be used as priors for Bayesian optimization.
