About Paul Schutte
After a 35 year career at NASA and 2 years in the Army, I have started a new & challenging career in Human Factors at Sandia National Laboratories. I am currently working on: Hey, I just got here. I\'ll let you know soon! Past work SAFEdeck -(Synergistic Allocation of Flight Expertise Flight Deck) A new flight deck design for single pilot operations that takes less time to train for, offers more efficiency, & is less prone to human error. SAFEdeck uses automation to complement the human (what I call Complemation) rather than replace the human. We already have an intelligent system that is certified for the flight deck - we need to use it. SAFEdeck allows for nearly fully autonomous flight as well as less automated modes. SAFEdeck lets pilots be pilots, but assists them in overcoming typical human errors and improves their skills and effectiveness.
