About Paul Rasmussen
As a partner in the Business Tax Services group, I provide corporate tax planning, compliance, and accounting for income tax services to clients in a number of industries including; energy, construction, telecom, retail and manufacturing. I have served companies within both public and private sectors and I have experience with US GAAP as well as International Financial Reporting Standards. I am a specialist with respect to income tax accounting issues including global tax provision process enhancement, tax basis balance sheet analysis, purchase accounting and tax controls testing. I currently serve as the Tax Accounting Competency Lead for Deloitte\'s Houston, Austin and New Orleans offices. In this role, I work closely with Deloitte\'s National Tax group on emerging issues and I oversee local tax accounting trainings. I am also an ASC 740 subject matter expert for the Houston office\'s IPO/SPAC readiness team working on Up C structures and tax receivable agreements.I have noteworthy experience managing, planning and coordinating day to day operations, project scoping, and staffing for income tax provision computations and domestic tax compliance. As part of this experience, I have functioned in the role of a Domestic Tax Director, Lead Tax Auditor, Internal Audit Specialist, and a Subject Matter Expert in accounting for income taxes. I also have experience providing tax technical training at internal events and to the Houston Chapter of the Tax Executive Institute.
