Enterprises are adopting digital tools and innovations at a remarkable pace & in a wide range of use cases, applications & industry sectors. In all cases the goal is to make measurable improvements to organizational performance. The innovations themselves & the contributions they make to enhanced performance in their areas of focus are worth understanding on their own. Beyond individual tasks, the potential for improving performance of larger teams, functional groups, business units and entire firms by fusing the innovations into an always on fabric of digitally powered analytics, AI & enhanced operations is an area of high interest for the truly transformative contribution that such fully connected digital infrastructures might offer to their stakeholders. This research analyzes the nature of the innovations in their own areas of focus, and the prospects for more fully connected, always on digital operations in a variety of high impact industry sectors and categories of solution offering. Developments in manufacturing, supply chains & distribution, energy production & distribution, & health care are of particular interest. And innovations ranging from intelligent end system designs to ICT infrastructures supporting combined OT & IT; to machine learning, AI, simulation & digital twins; to sector application improvements; to BI & EIS integration of KPIs & functions enabled by the rest of the digitally powered operation; are researched. The end goal is analyzing & measuring the contribution to improved performance made possible by the innovations powering the various digital transformations.
